Title:Cubes
Materials: Acrylic
Size: variable
Date: 08/2018
Place: Yorkshire Sculpture Park (Long-term exhibited)
This exhibit area is located at the Lower Lakeside in the sculpture park, and the humidity of this area is higher than average. These ten cubes without baseplate are hollow inside. The complex relationship between the line and the line, as well as the cube and the cube can be seen on a dry sunny day, and visitors would see the growth, the disappearance, the reflection and the phantom of the cubes when they wander among them. After raining, damp air coming from the grass and the mud spread into the cubes, and turned them foggy. In the whole making process, it always be amazing that the artist completed the half while the other half will give to the nature, as the cubes are just like a connection/bond between me and the nature. Thus, the cubes change every day depending on weathers and temperatures, telling me different stories and showing their every-day mood. The following pictures are the cubes’ status that I recorded at different moment.
“The mother nature is a genius as she always knows how to show us a surprise”.
